My Online Dating Experience

My Online Dating Experience

Let me be honest and just say that I hate it! There’s nothing fascinating about the online dating experience to me especially the private pictures shenanigans. Online dating can be negative as well as a positive experience for most if they’re willing to look past the physical and let interest bloom.

I first tried online dating as a young 20 something adult exploring life, and while there were so many options online versus going out to clubs or bars, they can get sell you whatever story, and you would be forced to put the pieces together. You may attract someone who you didn’t know would be interested just with the upload of a picture, but there was still many things left to explore. Do you smoke, drink, drive, education level, finances, etc.? What better way to date than to pick a choice and hope it evolves into something better.

First, you have to decide which dating site is best for you. We’ve all heard about the Christian dating sites, Hook up sites, and last but not least the Sugar Daddy sites that appeal to ladies that are looking for a little extra help, but which are more favorable? It’s a huge decision which site you decide to sign up with because you never know who or what you’re being exposed to. I prefer the face to face interaction, not just the text or instant messaging because I enjoy the comfort of knowing that the person I met is the person that I will see the next time we decided to meet If there’s even a next time.

I finally decided to sign up for a few, and none of them worked for me because the guys were not always 100% honest about who they were or what they were looking for. For example, I joined one site a few years back, and it was a very scary experience. I was very uncomfortable sharing my pictures because I heard horror stories of how people would reuse pictures of other persons for negative purposes which were weird to me. So long story short, I wasn’t a good candidate. I’m not comfortable with the unknown

Of course, there are other stories that you hear about where people made instant connections. These lucky lovebirds find one another and only after knowing one another for a short while were able to connect and start a meaningful friendship which led to a relationship. Apparently the success of marriages from online dating has risen over the years, but I just consider myself and old fashion gal. I’ll wait for that natural connection although I’m not sure how it’ll happen since I’m a workaholic with no spare time to live… Just my two cents! Xo
